In our fully fitted in-store workshop we can repair almost any jewellery item. All of our repairs are completed to the highest standards. Our new Laser Star Laser Welder also helps our us to perform repairs that before would have been thought to be beyond repair.  Never before has our repair service had these powerful capabilities.

Here are some good examples of repairs that are now currently possible:

• Delicate antique jewellery could very well now be repaired without risking ruin to your most cherished heirlooms.
• Precious and Semiprecious stones that are unable to take heat may now be worked on while still in there mountings due to the use of the Laser Welder.
• Dented gold bracelets can now most certainly be repaired. With the use of the Laser Welder, dents are filled and afterwords are polished, making them look like new.

Redesign

We specialise in re-designing old pieces of jewellery, old diamonds and old gemstones that are no longer worn. Remodel your old jewellery and give your it a new lease of life. Recreate the worn jewel into a different style of jewellery. Remodelling is embraced when a precious treasure has been inherited and is not stylish.
Maybe the jewel is damaged beyond repair or a family piece needs to be modernised to suit your taste.  Remodel a family heirloom ring into an engagement ring, pendant or earrings etc. Remodelling your jewellery, remaking your ring into a different style allows you to recaptivate the sentimental value of the adornment.

We remodel & remount all styles of rings, earrings and pendants in precious metals including 18ct yellow, rose or white gold, platinum and palladium.

We can also handmake jewellery from specific drawings and artwork and with our meticulous attention to detail we will create you a beautiful piece of timeless jewellery.

We are attached to jewellery with a strong sentimental value. These days it is all too common to sell or discard an item of jewellery which has lost its sparkle or relevance. However we can renew it by restoration. We use the latest state of the art equipment to return your treasured items to pristine condition, transforming it into a piece that can be worn for more generations. That's why we have a jewellery repair service where we're glad to keep alive those special pieces that someone along the way has given to you or a member of your family.

Restoration requires time and painstaking effort working in the original metals and we draw upon our vast knowledge and experience to offer a variety of services.

Polishing

Bring your jewellery back to life.  Weather it's Silver, Gold or Platinum we have a full range of polishing compounds, brushes and expertise.  Sterling silver and gold naturally tarnish with oxygen and light.  And with everyday wear and tear, your jewellery will pick up scratches over time.  With our extensive workshop, we can polish most items in the same day.

Our polishing services are not recommended for costume jewellery as our thorough cleaning processes might take off the plating.

Stone Replacement

We are able to supply virtually any diamond or coloured gemstone in any shape, shade or cut.
We can reset your diamond or gemstone in any style.

Claw Retipping

When a stone is claw set, the claw is more exposed to everyday wear and tear as it is set over the stone.  
Long term wear can result in the claw wearing and sometimes breaking off which will make the possibility of losing a stone more likely. If claws have become excessively worn or have broken off this is when they may need replacing or re-tipping.

It is recommended that this be done to any other claws on the ring as the repair will be very noticeable.  A broken claw will need to be replaced by filing down and replacing with a complete new claw.

For peace of mind any diamond ring should be checked regularly for its condition by a quality jeweller.

Rhodium Plating

Has your White Gold Jewellery lost its shine? Rhodium plating has a highly reflective white surface and gives a brilliant shine but over time this surface may become dull and wear away. We can restore your jewellery to look like new again - rhodium plating gives your white gold jewellery that mirror shine finish again. Our Rhodium white gold plating service can also be completed within the hour (if needed) - please call ahead if you require 1 hour service as the rhodium tank needs an hour or so to heat up, thanks.

When we take in a piece of white gold which needs to be re-plated. We carefully asses the condition of your piece of jewellery and if there are any other recommendations in regards to the repair we will let you know first.

The process involves stripping off any old Rhodium and polishing the metal making sure there are no impurities. A thin layer of rhodium is then electro-plated onto the surface and the finished result will be a piece of jewellery which looks as good as the day it was made.

When you get your jewellery valued with us here at Christopher Murphy Jewellers, you will receive an honest, fair jewellery appraisal from a professionally educated appraiser. With 30 years of experience, we provide some of the best jewellery valuation services.

Many insurance companies insist on up to date valuations for your jewellery with any item of jewellery recommended to be valued if over 3 years since purchase or last valuation.

All our valuations are printed on letter headed paper with an image of your item and a detailed description of your piece and are stamped and signed off by Christopher himself as a Qualified Diamond Grader.

Our photographic Valuation Certificates start from €100.

Loss Appropriation Certificates

As a registered company in the Thorn Power Group, we can provide Loss Appropriation Certificates for your missing rings or jewellery pieces.  We can also provide Loss Appropriation Certificates if you lost a diamond from your ring.

Our Loss Appropriation Certificates start from €100, but the cost will be reimbursed if you choose to use us to remake your missing piece.

We are able to size up or size down a ring, which ever you require.
After examining your piece of jewellery carefully we will recommend the best procedure to size your ring.  If an increase of a number of sizes is required we may recommend putting a piece in.We can also replace the whole band if needed.

We have all the modern facilities available to offer you a quality ring sizing whether it be in Platinum, Palladium, 18ct White Gold, 18ct Yellow Gold, 9ct White Gold or 9ct White Gold.
